Product Care
All Jewellery items are delicate, please keep them stored in their pouches and boxes. Remove when showering, swimming, applying perfume or sanitiser. Avoid harsh chemicals and chlorine.
STERLING SILVER
- Clean with a dedicated silver bathing wash. If shiny you can use a polishing cloth, if matt please only use a bath as polishing cloths remove matt finishes. Gold plating is a layer that sits on top of the 925. In order to maintain it please treat with care and store in a zip lock bag to avoid tarnishing. Gold plated items may need to be re-plated every now and again.
BRASS
- Clean with a specialised cleaning product and store in a zip lock bag to avoid tarnishing. Keep away from harsh chemicals and water
PEARLS AND SEMI PRECIOUS STONES
- Clean with a warm damp soft cloth. Stones and pearls benefit
APPAREL
To extend the life of your garment we recommend always following the care instructions on the label and the information below
KNITWEAR
- Alpaca wool, mohair and cashmere are delicate fibres. We recommend you hand wash in cold water using a specialist liquid wool detergent. Place item in a laundry bag if using a special wool cycled on your machine and ensure the spin cycle is no higher than 600rpm. Dry flat and do not use a hanger as they stretch the fibre.
- Please note some items require dry cleaning only and this is marked on the items care and content label
- Do not use fabric softener
COTTON
- Cotton is a durable fabrication however should still be treated with care in order to extend its life time. We recommend always washing your items with like colours and in a laundry bag to ensure no snags.
- Wash in a machine at 30 degrees to protect the fibres and colours. Line dry where possible or on a low machine dry.
- Please check individual label as some instructions may differ
SUPIMA COTTON
- Supima cotton used by American Vintage is a very delicate 2nd skin type cotton fabrication. In order to maintain its shape and avoid snagging please wash on a delicates cycle at 30 degrees in a laundry bag.
- Able to be machine dried on a low heat.
SILK
- Silk is a natural fabrication which is isothermal ( keeps you warm in the winter and cool in summer). It is a very delicate fabric so please follow care instructions on items label as they may differ to below
- wash on a 30 degree delicate cycle. line dry and steam or cool iron or dry clean
- Do not use fabric softener or tumble dry
VISCOSE
- Natural fibre made from wood pulp. Similar feel to silk and requires special care. Wash at a low temperature on the delicate cycle on your machine ( or hand wash).
- Dry Flat and cool iron.
- Do not use tumble dry or fabric softener
LINEN
- Linen is a strong natural fibre which is easy to care for. Wash at a maximum of 30 degrees and air dry.
- Please check label as on occasions it is possible to tumble dry which softens the fibres.
- If ironing, iron inside out on a low temperature.
LEATHER
- Leather is a natural material that benefits from being treated with a special conditioner from time to time to stop it drying out and keeping its shine and lustre.
- We recommend using a waterproofing product before first use.
- Keep dry to avoid damage and mould
HOME ACCESSORIES
RESIN
- Spot clean and wash in warm soapy water. Dry immediately.
- Use a tiny bit of cooking oil if the resin looses its lustre.
- Not dishwasher safe.
- Treat with care, dropping and knocking could cause chips and breakages
SILVER:
- Clean immediately after use with warm soapy water.
- Use a polishing cloth to remove any tarnish that may occur.
- Not dishwasher safe.
- Please use with care and keep out of reach of children.
